# Email your users

> Claude Code skill that sends release notes to your mailing lists via Shipstar — with a hard review gate before anything sends and one-click unsubscribe handling.

`/shipstar:email-your-users` sends real email to real people, so it runs
with two hard rules: you see the final draft and the exact audience before
anything sends, and each release email can only ever be sent once.

## Install

Via the official Claude Code plugin (bundles the MCP connection):

Or install the skills standalone from your dashboard's Agents page

## When to use it

Say "email our users about the release", "send release notes to the mailing
list", or "let customers know what shipped this week".

## What the agent does

1. Checks the audience first with
   [`list_mailing_lists`](/mcp/project/list-mailing-lists) — if no list has
   active recipients it offers to build one rather than generating an email
   nobody will receive: [`create_mailing_list`](/mcp/project/create-mailing-list)
   and [`upsert_mailing_list_recipients`](/mcp/project/upsert-mailing-list-recipients)
   for addresses you have to hand, or the dashboard's CSV import / the
   [sync API](/guides/sync-mailing-list) for an ongoing feed from your own
   system.
2. Generates with
   [`generate_release_notes_email`](/mcp/generation/generate-release-notes-email)
   for the commit window, applying any audience or scope guidance, and polls
   [`get_generation_status`](/mcp/lifecycle/get-generation-status).
3. Shows you the full draft and the exact lists and recipient counts, and
   iterates with [`update_content`](/mcp/lifecycle/update-content).
4. Sends **only on your explicit confirmation** via
   [`send_release_email`](/mcp/email/send-release-email) — delivery includes
   per-recipient one-click unsubscribe (RFC 8058), and an already-sent email
   cannot be re-sent.

## Requirements

* Shipstar MCP server connected (see [Set up Shipstar](/mcp/skills/setup-shipstar))
* At least one mailing list with active recipients
