# list_mailing_lists

> List the project's mailing lists with recipient counts by status

Lists the project's mailing lists for release notes emails — each list's `id`, `name`, and recipient counts by status. No arguments.

## Returns

```json theme={null}
[
  { "id": "9c1f7e55-...", "name": "Customers", "active_recipients": 312, "removed_recipients": 9, "unsubscribed_recipients": 5 },
  { "id": "b40d2a88-...", "name": "Beta testers", "active_recipients": 47, "removed_recipients": 0, "unsubscribed_recipients": 1 }
]
```

* `active_recipients` receive the next email.
* `removed_recipients` were taken off by the team; an upsert or the dashboard's Restore puts them back.
* `unsubscribed_recipients` opted out themselves via the link in an email and are never re-added.

Pass one or more `id` values to [`send_release_email`](/mcp/email/send-release-email) to deliver a completed release notes email, or to [`upsert_mailing_list_recipients`](/mcp/project/upsert-mailing-list-recipients) / [`remove_mailing_list_recipients`](/mcp/project/remove-mailing-list-recipients) to keep the list in sync. Create a new list with [`create_mailing_list`](/mcp/project/create-mailing-list). Recipients can also be managed in the dashboard under Destinations → Email (CSV import/export included).

## Example prompts

> "What mailing lists do we have, and how many people are on each?"

> "Send the release email to whichever list has our beta testers."
